My Language Beliefs

when i think about language beliefs, what comes to my mind is ancestors. the reason why i think this is is because, our ancestors was the first people on earth and the ways that we talk know is the way they use to talk to the slaves. I am proud of my language because its what my grandma used to speak and my grandpa used to speak and know it have passed down to the rest of my family and know to me.

I'm often very interested also in the 'roots' of where the words come from. I think sometimes getting to the essence of where certain things come from gives us a different view of things that we consider very 'usual' and that maybe we take for granted. For example the term 'ancestor' that you talked about breaks down etymologically into: preceding and go. Meaning, 'one who went before.' I think that's amazing because then if doesn't just mean one who 'came' before me, but rather one who 'went' before me and this gives me a certain degree of courage --knowing that my ancestors already 'went' through what I'm going through. Even if that 'adventure' is the advancement of a 'language.'
